CDL Roll Off Driver - Jacksonville, FL
The CDL Roll-Off Driver position is responsible for driving tandem and tri-axel trucks equipped with dump body to transport materials to various locations and dump the materials safely. This position is located in Jacksonville, FL.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned tandem axle or tri-axle dump truck and documents findings.
- Safely drives tandem and tri-axel trucks and materials to various destinations.
- Uses devices inside the truck to dump contents of bed and tilt bed.
- Driver must maintain a clean and safe work truck with regular maintenance.
- Driver must inspect load before transport to make sure materials are loaded correctly.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance must be maintained.
- Driver must follow Superintendent or Facility Manager directions and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
- Report all accidents and injuries, regardless of severity.
- Perform general labor duties when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Must have the ability to drive an automatic and straight shift trucks
- Ability to read, analyze, and process documents such as operating and maintenance manuals, scheduling charts, policy and procedure manuals, repair records, maps, DOT regulations and equipment performance handbooks.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, leaders, customers and third-party vendors.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out work in written, verbal, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
- Knowledge of EPA, state EPA, DOT, OSHA, MSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
- Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
- Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet or computer to manage company information and documents.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience in a civil, mining or pulp and paper application.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures– hot and cold.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have and maintain a valid state issued CDL Class A Driver’s License with driving record that meets Saiia’s risk management guidelines.
